Rates, sessions, delivery and revisions

I generally charge £40 an hour. This includes my time and the studio’s resources. You own all the IP, I don’t take points. I can be flexible, especially on larger projects.

You can go other places and pay less, and that’s fine. I always want people who work with me to feel like it’s great value to work with me. Most premium services feel more expensive than they should be. I want my service to feel and sound more expensive than it is. Budget is a design constraint like any other, and I would rather be open and flexible about it than pretend it’s not real. Ultimately, I just want to make cool stuff and keep the lights on.

Sessions generally run 10:00 to 17:00 or 18:00 to 23:00 and both can flex. (The take doesn’t always arrive on schedule.)

Time is logged honestly and invoiced at the agreed rate. I generally take a small deposit when taking a booking, then invoice after the first set of recording dates, and every £400, or after completion.

Notes come in three rounds. Round one, anything you like (in one document, please), no limit. Round two, a maximum of ten new notes. Round three, only what is still wrong. This looks like a restriction on you but is purely a default to keep your money on the record, not the back and forth.

Delivery is WAV and MP3, mastered and unmastered, unless otherwise specified.

And the thing nobody likes said: often my clients are paying with their own money, earned somewhere else, doing something else. I have never forgotten that and I do not intend to.
